After a summer (cough) I mean winter of catching up on TV and series, I am pleasantly surprised to find myself on the eve of Supernatural Season 5 \o/ calm, cool and collected (with a growing sidebar of excitement). Why? How is this possible?
Well, first and foremost, Lucifer Rising (in my opinion) wasn't the most nailbiting cliffhanger finale in SPN history, and wanting to remain as unspoiled on speculation as possible, I have read NO big_bang or summergen fic until now. So a relatively SPN-free summer has resulted in the following 2 benefits:
1. I am a blank excited slate for SPN 5 and have already implemented a lock down on new fic and reviews
2. I have caught up on a suprising number of 'other' TV series, and found new realms of fic
( TV Ruminations and More )
No friggin' way! (insert here much exclaimation marks and question marks)
I may have a tendency to watch tv series after the fact and not really pay attention to anything besides spn in the here and now but having watched SGA for the first time recently and now rewatching it... and finding out that Todd is Alistair! is awesome. Like Tony and Abby are awesome beyond on NCIS but seeing the season finale of NCIS Season 2, sucks!
Hated Sunday (SGA) too...
sigh
AND now, here on the even of Season 4 finale, I can happily say to be operating at a mucher lower level of anxiety, mostly because this episode is a morass of unknowns. I am intensely keen to find out what happens, yet at the same time reluctant to wrap another season and be faced with another break. sigh.
So bring it! I want to see... and have resolution. and then rewatch seasons 1 to 4. :)
I can't believe that its that time of the year again where I am anxiously waiting for the concluding episodes of SPN. Was it really a year ago that No Rest for the Wicked loomed before us?
( ponderings )
And in other news, Season 1 Boys are awesome. Rewatched the first 3 episodes and its so much lighter and amusing... even though Sam's hair annoys me and there are moppets but still, Season 1 was great. :)
Mickey Rourke?? Seriously!!!! (I invoke a stream of Grey's Anatomy flashbacks in the name of Seriously???)
My theroy on handsome men winning mainstream awards holds true. Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Leo di Caprio will only win an Oscar or Globe when they are old and feeble (and no longer handsome) or if they die.
Heath Ledger (totally deserved it) only proves my point.
and as much as I like Kate Winslet, Meryl Streep should have got it for Mama Mia. but I am still flabbergasted... Mickey Rourke.... MICKEY ROURKE....
Gah!
Bad fic saddens me. especially bad fic with lots of reviews and comments... cos' that's just sad and a continued detriment to the standard of literary wonderment.
So fic rec:
Accidental Documentaries by
and
Hozho by LadyVic on FFnet.
We're getting old.
Yep.
Happy Birthday, P!
So old in fact that I cannot believe I have been reading fanfic for 12 years... writing too I suppose, but hey ... that's a long time. A newie I am not.
How, might you ask, did young Tari fall face first into the blackhole that is fanfic? well, I'll tell ya - I've always been a fangirl, even before I knew what a fangirl was. And one day, after finding a website listing Star Wars top tens ... you know, the best Star Wars themed pick up lines, I wondered, 'who would win? Borg or the Empire?' 'Enterprise vs Star Destroyer?' .. I decided Han Solo would kick Kirk's ass, and ambled off to find a list or three about this. I found instead.... fanfiction. (cue sparkly lights and mysterious VO GUY).
and ... my life was changed.
Forever.
(dramatic much).
However, and it is a weird thought, I warrant, the main purpose of this little entry is to ruminate on the acting skills of Messers Ackles and Padalecki. ( (rest) )
I have semi-composed an oodle of entries and just never actually put finger to keyboard. So goal 1. of the morning was pay the rent. Goal 2 was make an entry - an actual entry - on the live journal especially after the facepalm moment last night.
Yep, i am reading a lovely new (for me) crossoververse of Spn and am thinking that this writer is prettydarngood 'cept for the fact that she is only writing one shots that really really should be multi-chaps and i am wondering if I am missing something here... and it turns out that I am!
In my defense the 'follow here to additional chappies' links were at the top of the fic in the header and i just ignore that usually.... sigh. so yeah, i sat until the wee hours of the morning reading the first chapters of a rather large number of spn/smallville stories. Sigh.
Blind? Yes.
But I also discovered a new writer on ffnet (new to me) - Psychochick1 - she has some AWESOME oneshots and some pretty heart wrenching stuff too... and if i knew how to do the link think to her profile page, i would.
Right off to read more fic.
